Rules of Engagement: The Complete Fourth Season

Studio: Sony Pictures Home Ent Release Date: 01/11/2011 Run time: 276 minutes Rating: Nr

Successful sitcoms don't exactly change from season to season--why mess with a winning formula?--but they do evolve. So it is with the fourth season of Rules of Engagement, offered here with all 13 episodes on two discs (there are no bonus features). Developments this time around include a larger role for Timmy (Adhir Kalyan), the forever-suffering assistant to the insufferable Russell Dunbar (David Spade); the efforts of Jeff and Audrey Bingham (Patrick Warburton and Megyn Price) to get pregnant, involving fertility drugs and a surrogate; and, after a very long engagement, the announcement of a wedding date for young couple Adam Rhodes (Oliver Hudson) and Jennifer Morgan (Bianca Kajlich). The former is especially welcome; bits like the scene in "Flirting" in which Russell dispatches Timmy to find the cell phone he left at the home of his latest one-night stand (who turns out to be a member of a bible study group) are always good for a laugh. But the show's main attraction remains the relationship between Jeff and Audrey, now in their 15th year of marriage and still sorting through various issues (keeping their sex life fresh, Jeff's realization that he once dated a contestant on a reality dance show, and communication in general) in a manner that's both amusing and realistic enough to be convincing. Warburton's deadpan, wisecracking Jeff may be a bit of a Neanderthal--things like texting, video games, and couples therapy ("Why deal with stuff when you can just push it down inside and go on with your life?") remain well beyond his grasp--but he's not a villain, and in the end he almost always does the right thing. Spade's Russell is another story. It's hard to love a glib, smarmy manipulator who shamelessly uses women and treats his assistant like dirt, but he's not irredeemable. Indeed, Russell shows some unexpected humanity and vulnerability in a two-episode story arc involving the beautiful young woman whom Timmy's family has determined he is to marry; Russell also gets some comeuppance in "Free Free Time," when he and Timmy attend a party celebrating the launch of a new video game designed by a former assistant… and featuring Russell as the game's hapless gnome victim. --Sam Graham

USTCC Cars on Display at the San Jose International Auto Show

Richmond, CA -- The United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) teams made a spectacular return to downtown San Jose on January 10-13, 2008. The San Jose International Auto Show featured a prominent display of the USTCC cars at the main entrance lobby of the Mc Enery Convention Center.

The main lobby entrance to the show was the awesome display area for the USTCC teams and their cars. The cars were definitely the stars as Saturday’s crowd sometimes stood three deep just to get a closer look at the cars. Pete Bovenberg, the newly crowned co-winner of the 2007 USTCC Driver’s Championship was on hand to sign autographs and answer fans questions.

“I was surprised by the amount of fans that came up to me and expressed that we had put on a great show. It was very refreshing to hear how much the fans were into the USTCC series,” said Bovenberg. The fans were very interested in the USTCC series cars and many were asking technical questions about the cars. “It was obvious that the fans can relate to our race cars because they are so much like their street cars. One of the reasons the MBO Motorsports Racing Team runs in the USTCC is because we race what we sell and sell what we race,” added Bovenberg.

On Sunday, Curt Simmons, co-winner of the 2007 USTCC Driver’s Championship, could be found standing by the MBO Motorsports Cornwell Tools Sunnyvale Dodge SRT4 generously signing autographs and eagerly sharing driving stories with the fans. Curt took the time to talk to many of the silicon valley dealer managers that were present, explaining driving techniques and car set up.

“I like the race venues like the San Jose Grand Prix, Portland International and California Speedway were we get fan exposure. This really gives credibility to the USTCC series. We need to market the teams and the USTCC series whenever we can. We need the exposure so our corporate partners will continue to support us,” said Simmons.

The show closed Sunday evening and while the doors were closing the fans were still seen asking Ali Arsham, the Series Coordinator, questions about tires & wheels and suspension packages. “The USTCC series has many new and exciting things coming out for the 2008 season. We are finishing up a new tire deal for all the teams that will be far better than last year. We are going to raise the prize money and sponsor participation as well,” commented Arsham.

The 2008 USTCC season starts on March 8-9, 2008 at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California.

Wow! second explored photo in 3 days, so now I have a total of 2 on explore :)
4 Pictures from today where the norwegian sea reared its ugly head...
I am a big fan of the discovery tv show deadliest catch, been in the same line of work most of my life and can relate to it since we face a lot of the same things...
Today when I was sitting in the wheel house grumbling over the weather I was changing channels on the satelite and one of the channels where showing deadliest catch, my first thought was: "I wish we had fine weather like that" ( It have to be said it was fine weather compared to what those guys usually face at that moment though! )
Anyway, today was one of those days we just have to deal with now and then during the winter, but we know it and cope and when its like today where we get a decent catch its not so bad really!
Btw!, someone asked me to take more photo's of the crew and our daily life and I am planning on that, but it have to be so good weather that its possible to run down from the wheelhouse, but they will be coming soon in plenty!
